HI,everyone

I recently send my file for naturalization...I just have one concern...from the past three years that we suppose to fille together,only one year my husband filled married but separate (that year he had a small business)...And because the business went wrong,now he ows money to IRS...I have no debts to IRS...Am I gonna be fine if my husband ows money for that year,when we fille married but separate?

I have not read anywhere that owing back taxes causes any issues with naturalization approval. But let others who have experience with this chime in for some definite answers.

Why not ask your husband to call IRS to set up payment arrangements? That way, you can show documents of this arrangement as good faith effort in settling your tax obligations to the government if it ever comes up at your citizenship interview. Good luck to you!
