Hi everyone, i am a 24 yea old Vietnamese living now in Saigon, South Vietnam. I am employed by a Vietnamese company which is doing sea sand reclaimation in Singapore-Malaysia border area, i've worked for this company almost 1,5 years and get paid 600$ per month (exclusive of bonus and comminsion), that is why i traveled alot to Singapore up to 5-6 trips monthly. I loved backpacking and travel. Upon last trip to Singapore, my boss's friend (who is an Vietnamese American) suggested me to apply for a Tourist visa if i want to travel there. I consulted many people and forums about Visa processing progress, someone said it is almost hopeless for young and single applicants to be qualified for a Visa even they proved their strong finance. The consulate interviewer concerns some applicants will work illegally under their tourist visa.

The system of visa processing of US embassy in Vietnam is totally unlike others eslewhere, you are rich or poor, single or married, that doesnot matter to the interviewer, no matter how carefully you prepared your paperworks, finance statements, the decison is made very fast at the interview when consul officer looks at you, they like you and give you a visa and if they donot, your trip is denied. Many of rich applicants are refused just because of some generally unknown reasons, meanwhile others are granted Visa when they are not weathy.

I intend to go to the US after i got married and had a strong financial status when i am over 30 years old, more possibilities of Visa succeed. I have some far relatives living in Pennsylvania ( they are sisters and brothers of my grandma who quit the country when Saigon fell in April 30th 1975) i donot want to ask for an invitation from them, their invitation will get me less chance to win a visa because i maynot come back to Vietnam after my allowed trip. So, i decided to apply visa and travel on my earned budget, my savings is now around 8000$ (for you it is not much but for Vietnamese people this sum is a saving for years to many medium-income households). I just want to go to Pennsylvania in September 2013 to met my relatives, and hangout in California Orange County, then come back to Saigon, my trip is around 15 days, i donot want to stay in the USA, i am tired of starting everything over, but how to convince the Consul officers is not an easy math when i am too young and single. But let give it a try, may i get lucky? I do not care too much about being refused entry.

Do you think i should apply a Visa based on my story? A US visa is a game of lucks, you get lucky and you go! How about preparing a fullly-detailed travel plan to them (flight bookings, things to do to see...at your aimed destinations)? Or i should apply the Visa in several years later? Please share and advise me, so grateful....
