Hi All,

Just needed some advice. My wife will be interviewed tomorrow (5th march 2013) at the local uscis office. She has all the documents except for my birth certificate. I have sent a document to my wife which she will be taking to the interview. Its is not exactly birth certificate but shows the family tree (date of birth,Pakistani Identity card number etc) and is known as FRC (Family Registration Certificate)issued by government agency. This interview is prior to the acceptance of I-130. Can they refuse to accept the petition at this stage since Birth Certificate is not the requirement prior to acceptance of I-130. Could this be used as an argument if incase they bring it up at the interview or would it be better for my wife to explain the non availability(i.e. we did not have enough time to get it from my birth country and that I do not reside in Pakistan) of the Birth certificate and that FRC document serves the same purpose as Birth Certificate?

Thanks for all the comments

Are you the petitioner or the Beneficiary?

Birth certificate for the Beneficiary is the only birthcertificate that is requested by the USCIS.

I have not heard of the Petitioner being interviewed in the local USCIS office prior to Interview of the Beneficiary in Islamabad.

Can you explain the process that you are going through, what happend?

Thanks.

Basically, we were waiting for a NOA2 in the mail. Instead we got a letter that said that my wife had to attend an interview. The interview was scheduled on March 5th and they sent the letter about two weeks before then. I have heard that sometimes they will send an RFE or that it is possible for them to do an interview as well (which serves the same purpose as an RFE). In any case, she prepared the documents they asked her for and other documents that she did not include in the original application and went to the interview in Charlotte, North Carolina. It was a short interview but in the end, the officer approved it straight away. Now we are waiting for our official letter. Hope this helps. I have also posted another thread in which I talk about the questions they asked and go more into detail.
