USC original birth certificate at interview (London)

Hello!

I am preparing documents for hubby for his interview at the US Consulate in London. One of those documents is my (USC) birth certificate. Does anyone know if at the interview the Consular Officer keeps the USC's birth certificate?

I was born in Belarus and it is a nightmare to get another birth certificate copy/original from the Belarusian Embassy, so I don't want the one I have to be taken at the Embassy during hubby's interview!

Thanks for any advice :)

11 Sep 2012: Married at the Old Marylebone Town Hall in London!!

09 Oct 2012: Mailed I-130 to USCIS Field Office in London

10 Oct 2012: I-130 arrives at USCIS Field Office

12 Oct 2012: $420 fee charged

26 Oct 2012: NOA-1 and RFE received

05 Nov 2012: RFE (affidavits) sent back to USCIS Field Office

12 Nov 2012: NOA-2 approved!

14 Jan 2013: Received case number by phone (it never arrived by post)

21 Jan 2013: Mailed DS-230 part I

21 Jan 2013: Medical examination at Knightsbridge Doctors

22 Jan 2013: DS-230 part I arrives at US Embassy

28 Jan 2013: Mailed DS-2001

29 Jan 2013: DS-2001 received at US Embassy

02 Mar 2013: Received interview date in mail (letter postmarked 01 Mar 2013)

14 Mar 2013: Interview...approved!!!

?? Mar 2013: Passport delivered by courier

My fiance also interviewed at the London embassy they did not keep my birth certificate :)

They don't keep any original documents, just want to see them but they will charge you per copy now so make sure he has a set of copies of every original document for them to keep.

12 Dec 2002: Married on K1 Fiancee Visa

02 Dec 2011: Moved back to UK. Intentions permanent. Permanent residency abandoned.

27 Oct 2012: Hubby homesick, I-130 sent.

30 Oct 2012: Signed for at Embassy

06 Nov 2012: I-130 Returned, USA Card Declined due to Fraud Alert despite letting them know first.

10 Nov 2012: I-130 Resent.

17 Nov 2012: I-130 Returned, UK Card Declined - probably the same reason.

20 Nov 2012: I-130 sent with bankers draft

26 Nov 2012: NOA1 Received - Finally...

13 Dec 2012: NOA2 Approval Date

Thank you guys! Really reassuring to know they don't keep the USC's original birth certificate. (I will definitely send hubby with 2 copies of everything!)

I was so worried that the Consulate would keep my original birth certificate and that I would never be able to get another one from the Belarusian Embassy. What a relief!
