My friend met this guy thru me..they knew each other for 2 months now and they want to get married in the Philippines in January next year this will be his first visit..She wants to know if it's just okay for them to marry since they need lots lots of evidence in case they file for a spousal visa....and is there a possibility that she can pass the interview when he gets her over here?

Your friend can marry whomever she wishes at any time as long as she's not already married to someone else.

I met my Filipino wife online. I flew to manila and we got married. I arrived on March 19th and we went straight to get the licence. Then on March 30th we were married. I left to come back to USA the next day. He has to stay in the Filipines long enogh to apply for the license and wait the waiting period to have the wedding ceremony. Take lots of pics before during and after the wedding, When he goes back to the USA he can file the I-130

Ah thanks you..but I think he only stays for 10-12 days because of his job here ..so how many days before you get the license? so he should stay for 2 weeks i guess and i believe there are some seminars right?

Any evidence is evidence. Pictures, phone logs, chat logs, Yahoo, Skype, email, plane tickets, hotel receipts, boarding passes, letters. If there is anything that shows you guys communicating and have a bona fide relationship, keep it, no matter how big or small it is.

Good luck.

There is a 10 day waiting period from applying for the license till you can get married. If it's a civil wedding then no seminars. You would have to go to municipality and have everything ready with them so when he gets there you go from the airport to sign your licence application, and the to the embassy to get the capacity to marry. 10 days later you can be married. he would need to bring any divorce papers, passport, birthcertificate and appointment letter from Manila embassy. All of this is on the Manila embassy website.

Good Luck!

I'm going to go out on a Limb here but I hope this helps. (Going out on a Limb means: 200 feet down and I'm afraid of heights)

As long as they are both free to Marry and legally divorced/single with proof at the time of the wedding that is acceptable.

The Petitioner must have a Valid Passport to travel of course. His flight ticket will require a round trip ticket and return in the 21 day or less period.

Customs will ask the reason for travel. Just say: to get Married.

Be aware there is a waiting period for a Marridge License (about 2 and half weeks) So plan on that when in Manila or request a extention at a cost.

There is going to be at least 8 months to a year after they file the Spousal Visa if the plan is get married in January. So they have plenty of time to show proof of a relationship. They should keep records of everything to a point.

They have'nt even met yet.. 2 months? But, I'm no judge. Trying add a few things to pass your friend. You will be told by other members: Keep flight boarding passes, reciepts of any sort which is good.

No, she will not Pass and interview when she gets here.. That will be held in Manila, thats where "they" must Pass.

Spur of the momment things without careful thought will lead to a negative outcome. Your friend should make an account and ask questions as well.

The topic is not really AOS. But, I hope this helps and others add.
