Hi VJers,

So there's about four different places on the DS230 (Part I & II) together where they ask for petitioner/spouse's address. Questions 10, 11, 16 & 39. My husband and I have our own apartment, which we rented a few months ago when I was there. He currently lives there but we receive all our mail at his parents' place (15 minutes away) and always list that as our permanent address. On our I-130 form, we listed his parents' address as the permanent address and the address where we intend to live. On the AOS he put our apartment address down as living address (in case things like the water bill show up in our finances), and his parents' as the mailing address.

I'm confused though about the DS230 because it asks for address where you intend to live, address where you want your Green Card, spouse's address and then the Part II for the petitioner's address. Here's what's I'm thinking of doing, and would like your advice.

10. Permanent address in the United States where you intend to live, if known (street address including ZIP code). Include the name of a person who currently lives there.

Spouse's Name

Apartment Address

11. Address in the United States where you want your Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) mailed, if different from address in item #10 (include the name of a person who currently lives there).*

Spouse's Name

His Parents' Address

16. Address of Spouse (If different from your own)

Spouse's Name

Apartment Address

39. Name and Address of Petitioner^

Spouse's Name

His Parents' Address

* Should I put one of my in-laws' names here instead of my husband. Would it not make sense/cause problems to list my husband as currently living on two addresses?

^ Should the address of the 'Petitioner' and the 'Spouse' be consistent? My only concern here is question 39 is in Part II of the DS230 which you sign at the Embassy so I don't want mail to end up at the wrong address if that makes sense. Also his parents' address is the only we've most commonly used and I thought that should be used here.

The more general concern here, I guess, is that we don't want NVC/the Embassy to get the impression that we are trying to conceal information from them. That is really not our intent. We want to be honest. But at the same time, we do not want to confuse them and for their to mess ups in the delivery of important mail.

wow...you sure have made things complicated for yourself. i know this is not your intent, but you have created a lot of confusion and questions that could raise red flags.

Why do you have to keep the mailing address and living address for your spouse separate?

In my opinion, answers to 10, 11 and 39 should be the same address.

We aren't sure if we'll still be in our apartment since it's temporary and will definitely stick to his parents address for number 11. Should the answer to 10, 16 & 39 be the same?

I actually ended up taking your advice and using the same address for numbers 10, 11, 39 and putting our apartment address as 16. I also attached an explanatory sheet giving details about both addresses, each question and why I chose to go with which address, it so it doesn't seem suspect/confusing.
