So am adjusting from F1 status and already mailed in concurently all the documents(i485, i130, 1765, and i131). I read somewhere that sending in a late registered birth certificate may be a reason for an RFE and so am just wondering has anyone been through this too and if so what supporting documents did you send to cater for the RFE. am just trying to be ready in case something happens hopefully not. will really appreciate you guys help

Thanks

We had the same thing. My wife got two affidavits attesting to the date and circumstances of her birth, including her parentage. She had her mother and aunt from Kenya sign and notarize them, then her cousin scanned and e-mailed them and we included those copies with the submission. She also included her primary and secondary school leaving certificates and her national ID card. Hopefully that will work. She hasn't received an RFE yet and our interview is about 5 weeks away.

Now I understand your question ... Swahili is hard ;) my birth was not registered until after like 10 days after according to my birth certificate and I was not asked for an RFE. I don't think it will be a big deal unless there are other inconsistencies. I wish you the very best in this process.

As long as the birth was registered, I believe within a year , then one should be ok . They RFE those registered more than a year after the event occurred. In Kenya most births are registered within a couple months. But in some EAST countries, it's common to have them registered 'on demand' in most cases several years after the event or not at all. In any case, easydoes it sums it pretty well. Go with his/ her 'prescription' to ward off RFE.
