Dear all

I had a question about a recent travel to Mexico via land.

I had applied for my green card on Feb 1 , 2012.

I changed jobs using AC-21 on Aug 1, 2012 using my EAD/AP combo card. ( i.e I am no longer on H1B status)

I had to travel to Mexico via car from El Paso,Texas to my company facility there ( about 40 min drive). I left El Paso,TX in the morning to travel to the Mexico facility, worked there the whole day, and came back to El Paso,TX in the evening. I did this for 2 days. I had a Mexico visa stamped on my passport so there were no problems entering mexico.

On both days, while entering back to the US , the border security officer just looked at my passport and EAD/AP card and let me enter the US . He did not took my fingerprints or issued me a new I-94 card ( In fact my old I-94 , which says I am on H1B, is still in my passport). I was thinking that I will be paroled into the US and will get a new I-94 with parole stamp. The officer also did not put an entry stamp in my passport when I entered the US.

Is this correct or do I need to take any steps now? I am hoping this will not affect my pending green card application?

Please let me know and thanks for your help.
