Would like to hear from people who have recently taken their oath, do you get your naturalization certificate on the spot?

If not, do you get any kind of document that serves as such? I wanted to upgrade my F2A petition to a CR1/IR1 ASAP. Even the same day if possible, I also have a flight down to Colombia Sep. 1st, so I am hoping to have my passport before then.

Thanks.

As far as getting your passport before September, you need to apply for it and ensure that it is EXPEDITED with OVERNIGHT return both ways(sending it and receiving it).

Good luck

Thanks for the reply, I am planning on going personaly to the passport center within two weeks of my flight, did it with mom a few months ago with no issues, got it the next day. It's more having the certificate or something that certifies that I am a citizen at that point in time.

Thanks.

Thanks, lets hope NYC is also the same, I was scheduled almost a month ago.

UMUC - the question was more about wether I will get the cert the same day as the oath or something I can use to get the passport. I have seen other people mention waiting up to 3 weeks for the cert. I would be in big trouble if that were to happen to me since I need to get my passport before Sep. 1st.

I believe most people get their certificates right after the ceremony, even though it depends where you have to go. A got mine many moons ago and had to wait for them to mail it because they used to staple the photo on the certificate. Now days they just scan it.

Yeah Brooklyn, cadman plaza. You can take ur mom, but they are gonna take her to another room to see u on tv. And she won't be seeing much. My husband went with me and that's what happened. He told me they put audio at the end when the judge came. And u gonna be there like 4 hours or so. I seriously wasn't impress with the ceremony.. I was actually sad that my husband couldn't be in there with me.
