Hello, I called the NVC yesterday and received our case # (but not IIN) for the CR-1. I am an American living in Switzerland and my husband is French living in Switzerland. I gave both email addresses (his and mine) to the NVC guy and he said that they just assigned the number last Thursday and we should hear something soon. Is there anything that we can do now?

Also, a few future questions:

my husband (beneficiary) will need his birth certificate, correct? I read that it could be in the language of the country where the visa will be issued - as French is a national language of Switzerland, does that mean it can stay in French or do we need to translate it? Do I also need a copy of my birth certificate or is my passport enough for everything?

I am finishing my PhD and do not yet have a job in the US so my mother will joint sponsor the AOS. I know that we need to send in both her and my tax returns. I did not file tax returns while here because I thought that I was under the limit. I learned yesterday that I wasn't so I quickly filed for 3 years and sent it in the mail. Since it is a month late (foreigners apparently can file until June 15th?) I know that I should send the transcript instead of a photocopy of the returns but as that will take 6-7 weeks to receive do you think it is worth just trying to send the photocopy? I contribute $0 for the AOS and will depend on my mom's returns so I was hoping that it isn't strongly enforced? Is it worth risking it and worst case they ask for the RFE of the transcript?

Thank you for any help!!!
