An RFE for that? That makes me nervous. I kept my married name because I have children. I wonder if this will be a problem for me too. But I sent a copy of my b cert and passport. The passport, of course, has my married name. hmmm...You have me nervous..lol...not really. I was already nervous. What kind of evidence do they want from you to prove that it is you?

Well, congratulations that you are that much closer! (I can't answer your question about what to do next because you are ahead of me.) Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!

I know it's early in the process for me, but I've been planning ahead to see what I still need to do. I looked at fiance's passport (I have all of his documents...I decided it's best if I keep everything together and not him since he's more confused about this process than I am) and it expires Feb 22. If he needs 6 open months after visa, that means he will probably need to renew it before his interview, which at this rate, I'm not really expecting to occur until Sept or Oct. Sigh...I wish I would have read that far ahead before because he got the passport for the sole purpose of the visa and it doesn't even have enough time on it! Well, I will wait until it's closer to the interview to have him renew it. It only takes about a week. Will they question why he's renewing it before it expires? I'm a nervous wreck! lol Well, at least I think that's the last thing we need. I finally received 3 copies of his b cert. When he applied for his passport, they kept his original and wouldn't give it back. So this time I had him get 3 copies to ensure we would have one for every pit-stop along the road. I've also read on here that Mexico does not give police clearances so he will not need one. However, he got one from the police department. It took 3 days. But that was before I knew we didn't need one. I don't know how he got it if they don't give them though. I guess I'm just rambling on. I don't have anyone here to talk about this crazy stuff with...lol

There is no packet 3. There is one fiance packet - all of it is available on the CDJ website. The only thing you need from the packet is the official "appointment" letter. It is mailed to both the petitioner in the US and the beneficiary in Mexico. Once you have all the forms ready and have your appointment letter, your fiance goes to the medical and then to the interview.

Mexico does not require police certificates because most places don't provide them. It's normal for them to keep the birth certificate when applying for a passport. His passport must have at least 6 months on it - it would make sense for him to get a 5 year passport now since it's a pain to do and you don't know how long of a wait you have. Also, once he's in the US it will be a valid piece of ID until he has others. No one wil notice that it has been renew and they even if they did they won't care.

Congrats to everyone who is moving along with the process... It seems like it's a long wait, but it's SOOOO worth it once you are finally together....

Efrain and I got married on April 4th! It was a small ceremony at the COunty Recorder Office with my parents and my sister as our witnesses.... and now I am filing for AOS and EAD....today! Hola Chicas!

We should see some more CDJ interviews coming soon. Let us know if you have any questions about interview.

Like Agro said - it is so nice to see my CDJ friends going thru same timeline for AOS. Leo had his biometrics on Monday - very easy. So we are just awaiting EAD approval and interview for Greencard. Things are great for Leo and I. He is enjoying his ESL classes and is studying for his GED. His classes provide the test. He takes 2 out of 5 parts tomorrow and rest in May. I couldn't imagine going thru a GED test. Wish him good luck tomorrow - Math and social studies.

We are having a marriage celebration party May 26th for family and friends. Big party! Two of his close friends from Acapulco are even coming for the weekend.

The 11 month process to get K1 visa for us was so STRESSFUL but now that he is here - seems like nothing. I hope Louisa and Kitkat get there waivers approved soon.

My twin sis and I turn 30 on May 7th. OUCH! But Sat is cinco de mayo so we will definitely be celebrating our birthday on May 5th.

Looking forward to reading more activity from CDJ friends and more approvals!!!

Allie

I know that Cd Juarez has recieved additional resources and implemented a pilot program to speed up the I-601 backlog.

Does anyone know, when these "additional resources" for the backlog of I-601 waivers in Cd Juarez is going to shorten the estimated wait time for approval? I'm still hearing anywhere from 6 months to a YEAR! what month are they working on now?

Thanks

Nothing has been publicized yet - hard to know if they are ever going to do anything to deal with the backlog since the pilot program is helping to eliminate a new backlog. They are supposedly currently working on waivers submitted in May/June 2006. :(

Here's a link explaining the new pilot program

http://www.aila.org/content/default.aspx?docid=22200

Here is the last paragraph of the document.

USCIS has also taken steps to eliminate the current I-601 waiver backlog by proving the Cd. Juarez field

office with additional resources. Those immigrants that have pending I-601 waivers with the Cd. Juarez field

office will be notified via mail of their decision.

I wish we could find out what additional resources they are talking about, hopfully one day soon the backlog will

break loose.
