Oh thanks all for the warm welcome! Congrats to all of you that have received your visas! I am looking forward to speaking with all of you that have done the K-1 process for your fiances in Mexico. I am going to need a lot of advice, I have been reading constantly from this site. I am just so excited about this but also do not want to screw anything up to cause a delay, that is what I am most afraid of. Edgar is now starting to fill out his G-325a to put in my I-129 packet -

I told him that I need the following for the I-129:

Copy of his birth certificate

Passport Photo

Signed Intent to Marry Letter (Is this a form? I just typed it myself and sent it to him based on the examples here on this website)

Signed G-325A

I hope I got that right!

Also don't forget if you're including any attachments for the G-325A forms to submit 4 signed copies of these attachments. I say this because if you don't have enough space on the G-325A forms, you can add an attachment with this info. But don't forget to submit 4 signed and dated copies of each attachment. When I submitted my paperwork, I only included 1 attachment and worried to death about getting an RFE for it. Luckily I didn't though.

Kristen and Efrain - GOOD LUCK TODAY AND TOMORROW IN CDJ!!!

Girls - I had my bachelorate party over the weekend. I think I'm still recovering today but I'm so excited for my upcoming wedding next week!! My girlfriends gave me such cute stuff to wear all next week! Leo and I are taking off monday morning for Floriday Keys and Wed we have our ceremony at sunset on the beach! I will post pics once we get back!

Just wanted to give you girls a quick update: I sent my AOS paperwork last week to the Chicago office and they received it on Friday! so I am in the waiting stage again I just hope this time is shorter than the 8+ months I had to wait last year for my K1

A few tips for the ones that will be doing this soon:

Marriage certificate: we asked the judge that married us to let us file it at the clerk's office ourselves, that way we were able to get the certified copies faster than waiting for him to send it in.

Birth certificate: I translated it myself and had a friend who speaks very good spanish sign it and certify it for me. I did it this way to save time, since it would have taken longer to get it done if he had traslated it, printed it, certify it, etc. instead of just signing it. This way I also made sure the certification statement was done the way I needed it, I got it from VJ and it goes like this:

"I certify that I am competent to translate from Spanish to English, and that the above document is a complete and accurate translation of the document attached entitled “ACTA DE NACIMIENTO” to the best of my knowledge and belief."

Vaccination Supplement: I went to the local "Centro de Salud" in my hometown back in Mexico before coming here to get the vaccinations I was missing done (MRR and Tetanus), this way we paid less for them. They gave me a "Constancia Internacional de Vacunación", which listed all the vaccinations I have had since I was born (Polio, DPT, BCG, sarampion, etc) as well as the new ones. It looks pretty official, it is printed in the "Secretaría de Salud" letterhead, has their stamp and signature of the head doctor there, and they asked me for a small photo for it (tamaño infantil). I took this certificate to a CS I found here in Michigan, his secretary spoke Spanish!, and they had no problem using it as evidence to issue my I-693A for only $40 dlls I had called this CS before taking the vaccinations to make sure they'd take a mexican certificate, and I'd recommend you do this too if you decide to do it this way.

I also went to the SS office last friday and I had no problem whatsoever, they didn't even want to see our marriage certificate for my name change, just my passport and my I-94. I was there only for about 10 minutes (I got there when they had just open so there wasn't that many people there yet) They told me I should get my card in about 10 days

Hi everybody!

OK, so we are here in Juarez, and I am settling down for my long day of waiting while Efrain is in the Consulate. I thought that I would be a basket case, but I am doing well. Mostly because I knew what to expect from everyone posting their experiences here....so I will do the same:

Hotel: We are staying at the Holiday Inn Lincoln. I recommend it. The people working here are really nice, there is free internet, and I feel safe, so that's important. It seems close enough to everything, and there are a lot of other people here going to the Consulate, so it's cool not to feel like the only ones.

Medical: We went to the Clinic right next to the Consulate. We got there at about 7:15am and he only waited a little while to be called in, even though there were TONS of people there. I waited outside in the cold and wind, and met a lady who's husband I am SURE is getting denied today for being in the US illegally...but I didn't have heart to tell her because she was such a mess about the whole thing (I know this is getting off topic, but) Anyway, I told her "Oh, don't worry, the only real problem he will have is if he was ever in the US illegally..." and she said "How do you think I met him??" ANd she said that they had put on the forms that he had been there illegally, so I don't really understand how she thought that was OK....but whatever. I feel sorry for her, and I told her about this website. (although I hope she doesn't read this!) ANYWAY.... He said that he did the usual waiting game inside. They took blood, took an x-ray, he had to drop his pants and boxers to his knees for the doctor to take a look, but no touching. (thank GOd for his sake) They asked if he had any diseases, took drugs, smoked, drank....aall the usual questions that other people have gotten.... and he was out by 11am. He paid like 1600 pesos or something like that.

Then we went to a photo place across the street to get his pictures taken. I took that advice from here. They swore that they would be OK, and if not that he could return today and get them re-done for free, so...hopefully that's true because I don't think he has enough money on him to eat lunch AND get new photos.

We walked down to Banamex which is just down the street. Paid the money and headed back to the hotel for a while before returning for the results. It was cool to see so many people walking around at like 2:30pm with the same black plastic folder...it seemed like everyone was doing the same thing.

Consulate:

Today we headed out at 6:45 and got the COnsulate at about 7. There was a line, but it wasn't too bad. It was definately longer today than yesterday. He had to show his letter and was let inside. He had a belt on, but it had a regular buckle and it wasn't a problem. He had the paperwork in a plastic expandable folder.

I did notice that some people were put into a line outside the COnsulate on the other side of all the rest. I asked someone what that was, and they told me that those people had entered with a cell or a pen or something else prohibited even after they were told not to, so they had to wait outside until everyone else had entered. So be careful that you follow the rules!

ANyway some guy is breathing down my neck to print out some immigration forms on this computer, and who am I to stand in the way of someone's visa, right? THanks for sending us the positive thoughts! I will post again tomorrow.

Looks like so far so good for everyone. We did the mrdical yesterday and my wife is in the consulate right now. I`m in a ciber in the shopping mall across the street from K and E trying to cope with a mexican keyboard that Im not accustomed to. Suerte, Kristen y Efrain. How bout that wind, huh?

We got the visa!!!

They told him he was approved yesterday, but they had a problem printing it out and we had to go back this morning! Sucks, because I had to change our flights and now we aren't leaving until tomorrow! But it's ok....at least we have the visa.

It is crazy windy here, and we are going to leave now to cross at Puente Paso del Norte. I will post a full report when I get home!

I hope things went well for you bdesj. We should have went out to dinner or something.

I just picked Leo up from ESL class. His class threw him a Groom's shower. That was so nice of them! Leo is like - okay now it is kicking in that I'm getting married next week (with a big smile on his face)!

Do you mean 4 copies of the whole pack of forms? (16 pages altogether?) or to just fill out the G-325A (it's 4 pages) and sign it? Sorry I sound so dumb!
