Thanks Kitkat and Lucy!

Yeah I'm going to start planning. Tomorrow at work, I'm going to have the printer busy all day. I'm going to start printing AOS forms out, so that I can start to see what the forms look like, I tell you girls that I'm a little crazy. :P

NO NO NO!!! Take a break - a long one. There is no rush whatsoever for AOS - yes you'll want to send in for his EAD as fast as possible, but first he has to get here and you have to get married. Relax amiga!!! (L)

Kristen - I am not sure when my fiance will decide to go to Juarez, but it's definitely ASAP after getting the packet. We thought about him maybe going later next week if we get the packet this week, but there aren't many flights available. The more likely dates are the week of Feb 12th, just like you and Cassandra. Right now I don't plan on going because of work and I want to save as many vacation days as possible for our 2 weddings and honeymoon as well as for days when he'll need me to take him to the Social Security office, get his license, etc. His mom has offered to accompany him so he won't be alone. I'll let you know more details when we get the packet.

I have a few questions for everyone  :

1. Can anyone confirm that the "no interviews on Friday" rule at CDJ is only on the first Friday of the month?

2. My fiance and I downloaded the DS 156K a month ago and it was completely different.

Now there is a new version on the CDJ website with an expiration date of 5/31/2004 http://usembassy.state.gov/posts/mx2/wwwfds156k.pdf

and following a link on the USCIS website I found the same form with an expiration date of 7/31/2007 http://foia.state.gov/FORMS/visa/ds0156k.pdf

The differences between the two are minimal. Should we fill out the expired one from the Fiance Packet on the CDJ website or the USCIS one that is not expired?? I feel like I should follow what is on the CDJ website, but the form is expired.

3. Did all of you take a Police Certificate to the interview? I didn't think that was necessary before, but it states on the "new" DS-156K that it is necessary. Any ideas on what exactly this Police Certificate should state?

4. DS-156K also says that we need Evidence of Financial Support - what exactly does this mean? Is this in addition to the proof of income? Form 430 on the CDJ website under Fiance Packet lists a lot of evidence of financial support, but it seems like it's more for already married couples. We don't live together so we don't have any bills together. All I can prove is that I can support him once he comes, but there is really no proof of past financial support if we have not lived together.

5. If both my co-sponsor's and my income are sufficient to meet public charges, do I need any of the other types of proof listed on the website? I will be including tax returns, w2s, paystubs, letters from employers, letters from banks for both my cosponsor and me. Is it necessary to include anything else (like real estate, stocks, insurance)??

I know these questions may seem stupid, but I really want to have everything ready. Thanks for you help!! - Agnieszka

Congrats cutie. 11 hours? Poor Juan! I'm not even going to tell my fiance that is a possibility

Agro - finally  your packet will be there soon! I just received my second packet yesterday - I guess that's what I get for sending so many emails! Someone else who has already been should answer your questions but I'm also planning to redo my DS-156K and use the new version on USCIS website. Like everyone else has said, the forms they actually send you from CDJ are outdated and barely readable.

I'm planning to go Feb. 12th because the Mondays before and after are holidays.

I'm feeling really positive and I have a feel its going to be a good dia de amor y amistad in Juarez!

I'm guessing that the police letter you are talking about is the standard "antecedentes no penales" form that many jobs in Mexico require? If so, it should be super easy to get, as my boyfriend has gone down to the station a few times for it. I can't remember though if he's gotten it right then or has had to wait for it.

At least I hope it's nothing more complicated than the antecedentes no penales!

Agro- use the current DS-156K even if that's not what is on the CDJ site because the current one says "previous editions obsolete".

The DS-156K form is generic for all consulates. You'll be supplying financial support separately anyway so I wouldn't be concerned about that. Also, no police certificates are required in Mexico.

Form 430 appears to be another CDJ mistake - that applies to "claim to a visa based on marriage".

Once the applicant has all of the necessary documents, he or she may apply at the Immigrant Visa section on any weekday morning (excluding the last Friday of the month and Mexican and American holidays). No appointment is necessary

Good luck.
