There does seem to be something different going on at the Juarez Consulate recently. I know that they have moved to a new location but it does not appear any K-1 filers have received their packets since the first week of September.

My fiance and I have been waiting 2 months for our invitation letter. The consulate says they have sent the packet 3 and invitation but could not say when and did not have a tracking number. My attorney sent an e-mail to the consulate 3 weeks ago requesting additional information but has not received a reply yet.

Have any K-1 filers whose approved petition was sent to Juarez in September or October received their invitation letter yet?

Prior to September, it looks like everyone was getting the packets within 3-4 weeks. Now it is looking like it could be 3 months.

it is true that some people never receive their packet from the consulate and can go without an interview letter BUT, this only applies to people who have been considered for an interview, in other words, they sent out the packet and it was never received, if you have not been considered for an interview and not been sent out a packet you CANNOT go to the consulate, just to clear that up.

my NOA2 is 09-12-08 and the consulate received my case on 10-10-2008, still no packet, i called the consulate they said it could be up to 3 months to be considered for an interview. to call the consulate you need to be calling from a landline, i think its option 1 for english then option 2 for K-1 fiance visa.

I called the number (Applicants in the U.S.: 1-900-476-1212 with a cost of US$1.25 per minute. ) and it won't go through. It says that I dialed a wrong number?

Is there another number you have used to find out if they have sent out your packette?

I'm in the US with a tourist visa and my mom is waiting for my invitation letter back in Mexico. The Consulate recieved my petition from the NVC beginig Oct and my mom says it hasn't gotten there yet. We called and they said they were sending them out 2 months after they were receiving them.

Today we recieved the letter that is sent to the US Citizen, I have it in my hands. Is it the same one?

Can I go with this one or does it have to be the one sent to Mexico?

Because this one has a letter in the front saying I have an open appointment to the interview and all the intructions with it.

Also the NOA2 said I had to Jan 8 to go to my interview but this letter has no deadline. Can I go after Jan 8 or no?

I believe that you struck gold on the invitation letter. Does what you have look similar to this: http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m254/na...Packet3copy.jpg

If you have packet 3, you can board a plane tomorrow and land in Juarez, take the medical/pick up the medical results the same day, and have your visa interview the following day (usually a 2 day process)

Congratulations, that invitation letter will get you into the medical and interview..!!! Just fill out the forms in the packet....don't sign anything yet and schedule your flights. Your fiance will need to fill out the proof of support information for you.

We just received our packet 3 & 4 today also. It took 66 days from the time Juarez received our approved petition so they are definately taking 2 months now.

Looking good. Only thing I can think of is the 2x2 photos. I believe you need two 2x2 photos of your fiance. O, never mind, that is #7 on your list. Everything looks good.

A thing to remember, I was looking at the AOS procedures after arriving into the US, and I believe that the Mexican citizen will need an original birth certificate when applying for his social security #, so don't give the consulate the original bc.

Good luck! I think a bunch of us will be having interviews within the next month!

Thanks, yah, i told alfredo to not let the consulate keep his original birth certificate or mine. As for our fiances having interviews at the same time, who knows, maybe they will run into eachother down there, (not knowing who the other is), it could happen.

Im soooo glad the paperwork is done  , but im sure im just getting started because AOS doesnt sound that easy either.

MEDICAL EXAM: I don't know if any of you have called concerning the medical exam yet or not. My fiance called this morning and even though the interview packet says that K-1 filers do not need to bring the invitation letter for the medical exam, the medical office is saying you will need it. You don't have to schedule an appointment for the medical, just show up like the interview.

Also, my attorney told me that you should not walk to the medical exam or interview from your hotel rooms while it is dark. Earlier this year, one of his clients was walking from his hotel to the old Juarez consulate building at about 7am and an SUV pulled up beside him and robbed him at gunpoint (within a block of the consulate building).

Needless to say, the danger in Juarez has only become worse. His advice, especially for any USC's, is not to walk or stand on the streets while waiting for your fiance. Go back to your hotel room and wait.

Good luck to everyone!!!

on the other forum im a part of they said that there is a new clinica right next to the new consulate, and also that the Holiday Inn Express is about a block away from the new consulate. (thats where alfredo is going to stay), so i think everything is nice and close and convenient.
