I'm going for a visit to Bogota to see Carol in a couple weeks. I will be there for the embassy appointment also, but I would like to leave the money for the medical and embassy cost on this trip.

What cost and how much each?

Medical ?

Visa ?

any other?

Trying to plan ahead as you can see. I'm in the NVC sinkhole right now.

Thanks.

Medical: From http://bogota.usembassy.gov/wwwsimve.shtml

note: this is regarding "Immigrant Visas", but I would *assume* it's the same for Non-Immigrant applications as well.

"For every medical exam the applicant must have the appointment letter, DS-230 forms, three photographs and police certificate(s). If the applicant does not have these documents on the day of the medical exam, the physician will not see him/her.

As of January 1, 2005, the exams will have a maximum price of Col$255,000 per person:

Col$120,000 for the general physical examination

Col$135,000 for blood tests (serology and HIV) and X-rays

The applicant must pay the fees for the laboratory exams and medical examinations in cash. Checks are not accepted. Any fees for additional exams (different from the ones mentioned above) ordered by the physician, are the responsibility of the applicant.

Visa: $100.00 USD

From http://bogota.usembassy.gov/wwwsc185.shtml

"Each applicant must pay the non-immigrant processing fee of $100.00 personally at the Banco de Crédito"

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to leave the money with her on the November trip. Now if I could just get that number from NVC.

Peter, I have already given her the forms and we have those filled out. Thanks for the help. We will deliver them once NVC comes through. The aim is for a December appointment. Richard said hello.

Hi Rodney,

NVC E-Mail Address & Telephone #: (603) 334-0700

National Visa Center

Portsmouth, New Hampshire

NVCInquiry@state.gov

USCIS:

If you call 1-800-375-5283, wait to hear the guy's voice (well, it's a guy here anyway).

Then push 1 (i think for english, if it applies).

As soon as you hear his voice again, push 4

Then push 0

Then push the * key

That ALWAYS gets me right through I absolutely cannot stand listening to those automated things when I know I need to speak to a live person, and I used to have a lot of questions.

Also, try to call at 7:59 am local time. They open the lines at 8 am last I knew, and it takes maybe 20-30 seconds to push all the buttoms. It's amazing how long you've got to wait if you wait til 8:05 or 8:10!

Good luck,

Peter Miami
