So I finally got around to shipping some of my belongings the other day. I sent a scanned copy of my visa and I-94 to my brother along with some filled out customs forms and he took them and my boxes down to UPS to ship them. That seemed fine and they went ahead and shipped my boxes.

Today I got a call saying that my boxes are being held in Detroit (they've been there for 3 days... I was worried what was going on) and they needed a copy of my marriage certificate before they could proceed. So I scanned it and e-mailed it to them. Sure woulda been nice if I knew beforehand. Oh well.

So to anyone shipping their stuff I suggest you bring a photocopy of your visa and I-94 AND your marriage certificate.

Is this possibly because you entered on a K1 visa. I'm shipping my items on Tuesday and the lady at the company said I had everything but the I-94 which I would receive when I cross, and that I have to scan and send it to her before they will ship my stuff.

Hopefully some of the more knowledgeable VJers can weigh in on this.
