HI,

Hope someone can maybe point me in the right direction,The Company I work for have recently opened an office in America and they are wanting me and my family to relocate for a couple of years, fantastic sounds great but I have a problem when I was 19 years of age I got into some bother (fighting) and was given a jail term of 4 Months in a youth offenders prison, this was nearly 20 years ago now and my concern is that I may not get a Visa does anyone know if this is the case? Thanks in advance.

Just make sure you declare it on the visa paperwork and you should be fine. I was in a similar situation, I committed a minor offence years back (fighting) which doesn't appear on my police background check as it was so long ago. I declared it on my visa paperwork and it wasn't an issue...honesty is the best policy and all that. I think it would have been an issue if it was for something like drugs or weapons i.e. guns
