Driver License renewal while i-130 pending

Hellow everyone,

Looking for advice...

BACKGROUND: I filed for AOS for my husband in Queens, NY on 3/5/2012 when i was a legal permanent resident. I became a US citizen on 4/11/2012. My attorney sent a letter to USCIS in order to upgrade his application on 4/23/2012. Until today all we know is that USCIS has received the application and withdrawn the fees.

QUESTION: My husband holds a Driver's License from Maryland Stare, which will expire in July 2012. His license is the means of making our bread for everyday. Motor Vehicle Administration sent him the "renewal notice" to his former address in Maryland. He is very eager to renew his license and be able to drive legally, but we are very afraid that his license renewal might affect his i-130 application.

I greatly appreciate your help...
