Does it matter where you get the marriage license?

Yes it is my understanding that you have to get the marriage license from the county in which you will be married in (where the ceremony will be performed) ...

Joel and I got our marriage license in the county in which we reside, BUT got married in a different county. No problems. Of course, this might vary according to where you live.

Huh. That actually answers one of my questions. I do have another one though...

What about social security numbers? I've read on numerous websites regarding marriage that in just about every state, you need to have your SSN or SS card handy in order to get married.

For instance, I live in Texas, right? Well, I've read online that Texas requires an SSN (in addition to birth certificate and some form of photo ID) for marriage. The same with most other states. Is this just true for U.S. citizens and it's waived for foreigners, or is it necessary for everyone? :unsure:
