Newbie, Re: Red Flags (no pun intended, I'm sure). Because the US Embassy does not have to tell you why, you would not know what the red flag is (if indeed there really was any flag, which I seriously doubt). Ross International Law firm website indicates that lately Guangzhou is inventing new ways to deny or delay visa requests. I've often wondered if Consular Officials are pressured to make quota (deny a certain percentage to keep their jobs). In my case, a lawyer professionally reviewed all paperwork and prepared all required translations by certified translator. I double-checked all paperwork to ensure that it was flawless. The metaphorical "17 pound box" documenting our relationship was solid. Many Chinese professionals are being held up for job resumes and job intentions. Don't know why. My fiancee is an accountant who has been with the same firm for many years with spotless record. Take away for you: do everything you can to ensure success. But don't buy your plane tickets until passport with visa stamp is in your loved ones' hands.

OP: Big Baby and Darnell have provided you with some great information. Darnell has helped many people, including us, successfully navigate the GUZ part of the visa process. Hopefully soon, my fiancee and her son will be making the trek from Liaoning province to Guangzhou for their interview.

It is good for everyone that uses the forum to fill in their timelines. It helps make the site's statistical predictions more accurate. (Hint, hint.....) Thank you for doing so. Good luck on getting your hukuo issues resolved.

Wishing you good fortune on your immigration journey.
