I want to file a fiance visa for my fiance and her 9 year old daughter.

My fiance wants to first come by herself and get her daughter down a few months later, maybe 6 months, so that she can explore schools etc. for her daughter and also settle down a bit before getting the daughter down.

Question is if it is mandatory that the daughter accompany her Mom on the first visit, provided I am filing for both my fiance and her daughter initially.

Thank you for your advise.

It is not mandatory. The daughter can apply for a K-2 visa, using the same petition approval, within 12 months of the issuance of the K-1. Also, since you will be marrying the mother before the child is age 18, the child would be eligible for a CR-2 visa at anytime up to age 21. K-2 within 12 months would be preferred.

FWIW we also have 2 children, one was 13 when Alla arrived, the other was 17. I do not agree with your plan, but that is just my opinion. Your new fiancee/wife will not be comforted by knowing her 9 year old is half a world away and neither will the child.
