Im just curious as to whether there is a list of stuff that people need to do before leaving the UK for the US..

i.e. stuff like notifying the tax office

If there isn't a list, I wish there were. What little I know I learned by accident. Some good news is that you may be able to collect your UK pension in the US. We have an agreement between the two countries. Here's the link for that information, though it doesn't specifically relate to what you're asking now.

I would think that you should ask this Q on the UK forum here, if you haven't already. Pretty helpful bunch.

Why wasn't this moved to the UK forum where it would have the best chance of getting some responses????

Sometimes I have some major questions about how moved threads are reclassified.
