Question about filing under the 5-year rule

I'll be helping my soon-to-be ex file for naturalization later this year under the five year rule. (What can I say, I'm nice and apparently I can't get enough of USCIS.) Our divorce is unlikely to be final before he files or even perhaps approval or oath, but you never know. I read the N-400 guide on here and I can't tell whether he will be required to submit the divorce decree when he gets it, if it arrives before the completion of naturalization. Does anyone know what the deal is on this?

He can update this either at the interview or even at the oath if he gets divorced on the way until he takes his oath.

Awesome. We're planning to file for divorce June 1st, and file the N-400 later this summer after he files his taxes (he got an extension to file this year).
