Hi everyone i have a couple of questions:

First my wife is a German citizen and we got married in the united states. our Apostilled marriage certificate hasnt came back from the state yet. so my question is what last name should we put on the I 130 should we put my last name, or her maiden name which is the name on her passport. the reason i ask is because she would like to take my name, but we want to start the immigration process as soon as possible.

This process is extremely confusing and i have a million questions. I am in the military and it makes it hard to get time to see my wife, i need some clarification so that i can start living a happy life. any tips and remarks no matter how off the wall would be helpful. thank you in advance

Is your wife in the US right now? We used my last name on our I-130, and my wife still has her maiden name on her passport. You have to pay for a name change later with immigration, so I figured it would be cheaper to put the married name on all the immigration paperwork in the first place. I'm sure there are people here who have more experience with this than me though.

5/2011 Met my wife, she was on a J1

2/25/2012 Married

3/07/2012 Sent I-130,I-485,I-765,I-131 to Chicago lockbox

3/16/12 NOA1 received along with notice that Biometric fee was missing

3/25/12 received receipt that biometric fee had been accepted

4/16/12 Biometric Appointment

5/14/12 EAD/AP card received

Still waiting for update on I-130/I-485
