Can anyone give me an insight regarding the application of support? Last year, I only earned $12K, but i got a job this year which will enable me to go beyonbd the poverty guideline for three, which is what I need. Can I use this expected income? Any thoughts are surely appreciated. Thanks.

Yes you can use your expected income for the year to show that you are above the poverty level. You'll have to provide a letter from your employer stating your income for the year. Also, you may need to provide pay stubs to show that you are actually earning the amount being stated

Don't confuse "expected income" with "current income" - they are completely different things.

If you were unemployed from January 2011 to November 2011 and then got a job making $36,000/yr or $3,000/mo, your expected income for the year 2011 would be something like $6,000, right? The form is not asking you for your expected or YTD income - it's asking for current income, which is the amount of money you currently make. The answer in this situation would be $36,000 - not $6,000.

Past income is particularly important if you are self-employed. If you're not self-employed, get a letter of employment and provide a few recent pay stubs. Your current income is more important than what you made 2-3 years ago.

So, the current amount is what I need to write in there since that is my current income, not my total earning from 2011.

Will that be sufficient? I mean I will be making that amount this year but it is just not reflected on any its form since I just started. Is this going to be a complicated case?
