Hi Guys,

Stumbled across this forum and I hope someone here can give me some advise. Apologies if this is the wrong section but Im sure someone will move it if so.

I've recently moved over after a drawn out wait on my H1B. I've been in the country just over three weeks and I applied for a SSN on day one, still no sign! I've been onto Social Security numerous times and they tell me they are awaiting DHS to confirm the validity of my visa. If anyone experienced a similar wait or understands the process I'd appreciate some advice on how long it can take or who I can contact to speed up the process.

The company Im going to work for require a background check, which requires an SSN, even though its a new SSN! Getting aggitated with the wait and the lack of information I can find on the process :(

Any help much appreciated!

Regards

Ross
