WARNING: STAY AWAY FROM FOREX, RP delivery service!

We had a box picked up from our house on Nov 7, 2011 and thankfully we heard it was delivered Sat Jan 28th, 2012. I do have tp tell you that it was very stressful dealing with FOREX and we were sure it was never going to be delivered. We have heard every excuse in the book. Trouble with shipping department, hold up with customs in Manila, then days of the "computer system" is down. We were then told that they have no say or sway with the RP workers, meaning once it hits the RP, good luck. On top of that, everyone we spoke to was NASTY. Yelling at us, giving us promises they would call back with updates (Never once received any returned call backs). Once a women named precious told my wife that the box was loaded on the truck and would be delivered. When we called two days later when the box never showed, they told me to my face that my wife must be lying. I am making it a point to let everyone know to find any other service besides FOREX. There are plenty of other services you can use. You do not want to deal with the horrible company unless you like aggravation.

Hi there! What particular name of the forwarder from the Philippines delivered your boxes? Because I used to work in a forwarding company before i went here, we have boxes from Canada and US... Ive heard some complains also from our consignees regarding Forex service....But its also true that forwarders have some problems releasing the containers from customs, prior to that getting a trucker to load such containers especially during pick seasons...but then, its not the shipper's fault though...regarding nasty conversations with forwarders staff, its how the shipper/consignees talked with them too...but if u think u need to complain them, u can complain it to your agent here in US first...I know they are responsible also with their agents/forwarders behaviors in Manila....Well, best way find another agent and not use Forex anymore...Goodluck guys! :)

I must the the only one who really likes forex's service. I have sent over 10 boxes from Ohio over the years. Once the box makes it to California and loaded on ship, I can watch it progress on forexworld.com using the box's tracking number. It kept me informed of all delays (customs inspections in both California and Philippines). Once the box hits Marikina, I'd inform the receipent to be on watch for delivery. Boxes arrived in perfect condition. I always pity the delivery persons cause my wife & kids lived on a mountain in Lower Kalunasan in Cebu and the heavy box would have to be hand carried from the road down a long long hill. The delivery persons always got tipped....and well deserving tips too. Sorry for your bad experience, but mine has always been well received. I recommend them without reservation.

My parents uses Forex all the time and no problem except for the occasional delay at Custom but that's not Forex fault..Goods have always arrived in good condition. I actually used them before going on Vacation in the end of May, I sent the box with in early April and got there in 5 weeks a week before I arrived. Also if you send during the Holidays (November and December) expect it to be delayed as it is the busiest time and unfortunately it is also kickback (relax holiday mode) time for employees..lol..

We always use FOREX from Cleveland to Tacloban which usually takes about 6 - 8 weeks, but longer during holiday seasons. I like the online tracking they have and the employees have always been helpful, especially in Parma, Ohio where they let me know if they think there may be delays. I'm sorry to hear someone had problems, but if the box arrived in good condition - be happy, it's a long trip.

Maybe someone can suggest a better comparably priced service.

I used LBC a couple of times. It took 6-8 weeks also. They are one of the biggest in the Philippines. I think that is about the normal transit time for Balikbayan box.

Yep. Two months is normal. Weather can make it longer. Forex is a big shipper. Some of the smaller shippers have problems, like not being able to fill the shipping container for months, or not having a fixer on the other end to pay the duties on the cargo. There was one company in the SF Bay area about six months ago, where Philippines customs was getting ready to action off the contents of one container that had been awaiting settlement for more than six months.

LBC is a good company, and gives good service, but even we had to call them out three times this year before they finally got the box. Talking to Alan, the regular driver, he said this year they were getting twice the business as last year, since they shut down a few smaller shippers. And the customers were insane! More boxes than ever! He would make two stops, and his van was full! One customer sent 10 or 11 boxes! He made a special trip for us to catch up, and only charged us $55 for having to wait a couple extra weeks for pick-up.

Mine go to cebu also, but leave out of Jacksonville , Fl. I guess that is why the longer ship time.
