@To all: another question. Inday is now here in U.S. In PI she purchased OFW SIM card thinking that would be a good option. She has tried calling family and friends in PI from US using this OFW SIM, following instructions to enter 131+63+number. However, she is unable to successfully make the call. Does anyone know how she may successfully use the OFW SIM? Thank you!

The "131" is listed in instructions for SIM as a code to first enter when using OFW SIM in the United States. John&Marlene, thank for pointing out to include/try "011" and thank you much for continuing assistance. --RK

We have an unlocked GSM Quad Band Nokia phone. We purchased from this web site: www.telestial.com

We then purchased a T-Mobile USA Sim Card and we can send and receive text to the Philippines and make voice calls. You just purchase as much time as you like when ever your sim card balance gets low, it will prompt you when it is getting low and is very easy to load more minutes. No contracts!

When we go to the Philippines we just purchase a Philippine Smart Sim Card and take out the USA T-Mobile Sim and put the Philippine Smart Sim it in the phone when we arrive at the airport in Manila. We have her family buy the Smart Sim and mail it registered mail to us a few weeks prior to departing to the Philippines. If you purchase a Smart Sim from Telestial it will be about 5 times the cost compared to purchasing in the Philippines.

USA Cells use frequencies 850MHZ and 1900MHZ. Asia and Europe use 900MHZ and 1800MHZ. This is why you need a Quad Band GSM Unlocked Cell Phone.

A Quad Band GSM cell will work just about in any country except Japan, However Telestial sells some phones that work in Japan and are also GSM Quad Band. All you need to do is purchase a Sim for the country you will be traveling to. Hope this helps and if you have any questions PM me.
