Suggestions on Tax Filing/ Withholdings

I looked into a few different threads and got mixed information so I would just like to explain our situation here.

My wife and I were married Feb 20th of this year. We expressed mailed our i-860 packet the day before she went back to Whitehorse, YT, CAN. The visa process went pretty quickly and her interview was September 21 in Montreal and was approved. It's my understanding she wont receive her green card/ssn for 4-6 weeks once entering the US. She is selling stuff and finishing out her job mid january then moving down.

Should I be filing (MFJ) married filed jointly? She will only have been in the States for 2011 for about 30 which works for the cut off of 330 days on the 2555ez Foreign Earned Income Exclusion and I believe her income will be exempt.

Also, she will be actively looking for work when she arrives but wont have one right away. I am currently working on my Employee's Withholding Allowance Certificate it-2104 and don't know if I should be adding her out of country income with mine (should be exempt) or even say she had a job.

This has nothing to do with your posting other than your wife looking for work when she gets down there. In the Canada Forum there is the Canuck EI Thread. Your wife will be able to collect Employment Insurance when she gets down there.
