So, I need someone one to help clarify what is going on with NVC.

I've called for the past 3 days and given them both EAC #s for my I-130 and I-129F. The response I get for both is that they are at NVC but are not in the system yet.

Furthermore, they said very clearly to me that they would get rid of the I-129f and go forward with the I-130.

I get home and saw a letter in the mail from NVC. It says they processed my I-129f and it is being forwarded to the embassy.

What is going on? Should I ignore this? Should I wait for the I-130? The woman I spoke to right now at NVC acted as though she were having a top secret conversation with me, and barely gave me any clear direction. I'm growing tired of the rigamorale. Last time I checked.....i was paying for this to be done. So why am I in the dark? Urrrgggg...so aggravating and I hate to have my weekend start off on the wrong foot.

Mama don't call..let time take its course! I would go through the I-130 process regardless what comes in for I-129F. It will save you some money in the long run

Explain what you mean. Because right now, any day the consulate will have his file (I-129F) and they are going to send him a packet with things to do. What I did notice was the difference of like $500 I will save doing it this way than the other (I-130). What do I do? I'm at a cross road where I have to decide because NVC has told me I can wait for the I-130 to be processed or I can go ahead with the I-129F.

Here is a good link at a previous bit of info regarding the two different courses.............post #2

We filed cr1 visa and paid $355 at the i30 phase...

IV bill was $404

i864 pkg was $88

Total cost for us $847

When my husband finally comes he will be able to work and get on the bank accounts, insurance, apartment lease evthing that requires a SS# to do so because he will be travel and work authorized hence the status of Condtional REsident.

When you file k3 it is less in the beginning but you still hve to adjust status once he/she gets here and they are not allowed to work legally etc or do anything without thier SS# which they won't get until you adjust status. The cost of adjusting status after they come is another big expense

so actually the cr1 visa ends up taking as much time and less money and allowing them full work and travel authorization right away.

Thanks for all the info.....

that $404 and $88 were 2 things I originally didnt account for when I applied for the K3 because they aren't part of it so when they explained they'd go the CR1 I was happy but worried about how I'd come up with the extra $500+. As far as the length of time...I'm willing to wait if it's a little longer.

I wasn't aware about the SSN thing but as far as working, he wasn't really planning to work here anyway since he owns a business in his country and would still continue to somehow do so. But, if I may possibly have to pay another huge amount in the future to adjust status....then I'll find a way. I want to be over and done with this process asap!
