Compliance Letter

Hello, I am just wondering if anyone has any idea or has experienced any difficulty importing their Hyundai.. I contacted Hyundai for the compliance letter and was told and recieved the letter stating they will not release anything saying it meets the US requirements or even what its missing.. So I am going to assume this is going to be hard to import I have searched all over for the information and have yet to find an answer. Any help would be great.

"Hyundai Auto Canada certifies that the above noted vehicle Accent 4 door 2008 GL Pacakge was manufactured for retail sale in Canada and complied with all Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (CMVSS) and Canadian emissions standards applicable as of the date of manufacture.

Our records indicate that there is no open recalls associated with the vehicle as of the date of this letter.

Hyundai can provide no assurance, nor does it make any representation that, the vehicle complies with any US laws related to safety or emissions standards. Further, Hyundai hereby advises you that if you take the vehicle into the United States or any other country, Hyundai shall not be responsible for notifying you if a recall campaign is conducted by Hyundai that may affect your vehicle."

Not sure if this wiil help or not, but when I moved in 2009 and was importing my Honda I called Honda Canada first and was told I needed to contact Honda US for the compliance letter. I did and received it within 10 days, free of charge, had no issues whatsoever at POE. Good luck.
