Just wondering, do they typically give you anything after the K1 visa was approved? How long after the interview did you get your passport back? Thanks for the reply. :)

Anne

Is there a fee that my fiance had to pay for visa delivery? For some reason, he wasn't told he had to pay anything, and just went straight home. So now, day 4 after the interview, still no passport and visa. I kept calling the US Embassy in Seoul, they don't pick-up. Emailed them, reply is in 3-5 business days. HELLPPPPPPP PPPLLLLLLEEEAAAAAASSSSSEEEEE. I need answers for these please.

Hi

Our case just arrived in Seoul and I was wondering if you guys could help me with s couple of questions? I'm a South African teacher here in Korea and he's in the US military.

Was it easy to schedule an appointment really soon or was there a waiting list. I really want to have my interview asap. Also...Did you get a Korean police clearance (KNPC) with a RED stamp? I can't seem to get the people at the police station to understand that I need it. One last question...Were your documents notarized?

I'd really appreciate any help, thank you!

Hello!

This packet 3 link really helped http://asktheconsul.org/pkt3k1.html

Checklist for interview http://asktheconsul.org/icheck_fiance.pdf

As far as I remember, I filled out an online form for scheduling the interview. You will give the date for the week that you wish to be interviewed. But the embassy will determine when the interview is.

My fiance got his police clearance thru his employer. But he's suggesting you get it from a central police station (meaning a bigger police station) because they would know better there. The red stamp is the notarization and you will have to get it translated at the Seoul City hall. There is a fee for that. The police clearance was the only document he had to have notarized. Did you get one from South Africa too?

I hope this helps :)

Thanks for your reply :) I guess I'll go to Seoul in my Summer vacation and try and sort this out. I did get one from South Africa :) Thanks once again and congratulations on passing your interview!

You do not need the red stamp on the police certificate anymore. The embassy used to require this red stamp, which was only given on the police certificate issued at the Jongro Police Station and no other police stations. Obviously this poses a lot of inconvenience for ppl, so they changed their rule recently. If you read their instructions on the police certificate, there will be no mention of this red stamp because even the Jongro Police Station does not issue police certificates with red stamps anymore.

No, you do not need to get the police certificate notarized. Get one of your Korean friends to translate it for you and attach a statement something to the effect of, I am fluent in both languages and the attached translation is true to my knowledge (you can google the exact statement you need to attach) and sign. In fact, I translated my own police certificate, which did not have the red stamp even though I got it from the great Jongro Police Station, and it was all fine.

The Seoul embassy is extremely generous with their interview dates. When you request an appt on the internet, you can specify the date range you want and I think most of the time, they'll give you the interview date you want (just ignore their minimum two week or so requirement) I've been to the embassy a number of times (I don't ever want to go back there again...) and every time I go there, the Immigrant Visa section is almost always empty.

THANK YOU! I got a police clearance with a red stamp at Jongro  I've translated it myself (been in Korea for 6 years teaching) and completed my medical! August 22nd is around the corner! Yeah!

Good luck on your endeavours and thanks for your help.
