i just wonder if they say in the interview u r approved and they keep ur passport and tell u u will get ur visa in 1-2 weeks and then people do not get it in 1-2 weeks sometimes not even in 1 month why dont they say this in the interview like we will put u in AP do not have ur hopes up high ????????? is it all the sudden after the interview is over they decide the person need to be in AP ? didnt they review the whole file before the interview >? just never understood that but i guess its like a lot of twists in the whole processthat cant be explained

On Cairo website they actually state that the CO may say congrats but instead you get placed in AP. So I think this is their way of avoiding confronation. I think all eyptians need to specifically ask am i in AP or will I really get my visa within 2 weeks. Because the CO have the information in front of them. They are not require to tell you but they cannot tell you a full lie (half-lies or half-truths are ok to avoid any confrontations). That is my belief only-there are no facts except as written below off cairo website

Though Cairo may tell you Congratulations,The (AP) "Administrative Processing" could possibly take from 1-6 months in some cases.

Anyone else whose visa has been approved and is waiting for it to arrive in the mail - do you keep getting regular notifications that the "delivery is scheduled as agreed." If the visa is ready to be mailed and it's just sitting there, does anyone know why it isn't sent right then. Why do they keep it for a week or however long? Are they finalizing it during that time, or trying to accumulate a larger batch of visas to send out all at once?

I have one quick question. My husband just recently sent the documents to the embassy and it said it was signed by US. I thought usually it would be signed by a person's name and not just US. Does it mean that the documents was still received by the embassy? I just sent them an e-mail and haven't a gotten a response yet on whether or not they have received the documents.

Regarding the "Delivery is scheduled as agreed"....if you have the DHL tracking number you can enter it on DHL.com and a few times a week it updates saying "Delivery is scheduled as agreed". This doesn't mean that it is ready, it means that you have paid for the delivery and it will be mailed out when they have the passport. At this point the embassy still has the passports and it has not been given to DHL.

Once approved, the next big step for your visa is VISA ISSUED, which means that your visa has been printed. Once it is printed, they give it to DHL and then you can have it.

Regarding the paper that you sent it, my husband sent a paper in on the 22nd by DHL and I emailed the embassy a week later and they told me that they received the paper on the 28th. So, the embassy may have had it earlier, but it was filed in the correct place by the 28th. It takes about a week, email them to know if they have received it.

To get updates, email the embassy at consularcairoiv@state.gov . They usually reply a day later, sometimes their responses are helpful and other times they are generic. Make sure to email them with your case number so they can look it up.

After your visa approval, there are 2 routes...one is the dreaded Administrative Processing..once that is clear then your visa goes through consular review, which takes about 2 weeks (as they have told me). The other route is just going directly to consular review. Once consular review is over, they issue the visa (print it and put it on the passport!!), then they give it to DHL and then you get it.

I think it is BS the amount of steps it takes. I feel like after the interview it is approved so just give us the visa, but these are the mandatory steps and as everybody knows...there is no way around it. It is safe to say that once you are approved, you will travel to the US...the frustrating thing is waiting it out.

Hope this helps.

The USA departments do not usually sign their names. When I sent a package to USCIS someone signed it

S. TATE---- like first name S and last name TATE so it spells STATE

(Department of state)

So, someone received it but they will not sign their name.

This definitely does help, thanks so much. So I guess you all are still waiting too? I just figured that when they said we should expect to get the visa in a week, that was a maximum projection? Or at the very least, that it would be no more than the 1-2 week window. I hope that it does in fact turn out not be much longer of a wait, but we'll see what happens.
