to DS-160 or not? (Japan)

Hello!

I have a quick question about the post NOA 2 (which hopefully is on its ways!!) activity for the Tokyo Embassy. It might also be noteworthy that my fiancé is a UK citizen and we are both living in Japan as English teachers.

On the Embassy website, there is a lovely step by step description of the process for all non-immigration visas. In step one, the applicant is to fill out a DS-160. However on the left, in a text box, there is a statement that says, "all non-immigration visas (except fiancé visa) applicants applying for visas at the US Embassy are required to complete the DS-160 online application form."

While it seems clear that he will not have to fill out a DS-160, you are required to use a barcode from the DS-160 to log into the online payment system.

Here are my two questions...

1. Do we need to do a DS-160?

2. If not, how do we enter the online payment on the Embassy website?

Thanks in advance for all your help! Colleen

You will enter the barcode from the DS-156, when the time comes to pay online. "PAYEASY ATM TRANSACTION RECEIPT: You must submit your PayEasy ATM transaction receipt at the interview. See here for payment instructions. Note: You need to type the Barcode number on your DS-156 to register your payment information" from http://japan.usembassy.gov/e/visa/tvisa-niv-kchecklist.html :-)

Thanks!

The "fiance visa" checklist page and the "how to" page are a bit different. Once you pointed it out, I realized I must have read over the fiance visa checklist page too quickly!

Thanks for you help!
