OK. So it's time to send in the I-864 and to be honest, my finances are all over the place. :bonk: I'm self employed and haven't filed for 2010 but the 1040 is ready to go and have copies in hand. The reason being is that my tax person wants to hold off until my wife and daughter arrive and obtain their SS #'s to readjust for dependents etc but I don't know if that's possible. I don't have ITIN #'s for them either. It's a long story but this is where it's at.

As I understand it I'll need to show the last three years of income but only the last year will be researched. Is this correct?

Basically, I'd like to know what nvc is going to want and what they do to research the past three years of income.

Also, I'll need to know what poverty + 25% mark is for 2008-2010 and if those numbers fluctuate with dependents then it would be 3.(me my wife and daughter)

Thanks a bunch! :)

If you look at form I-864 line 25 you will see that Only 2010 is mandatory on Form I-864, but they highly recommend (especially if you are self-employed) that you submit the last 3 years with all schedules. This way they can see the ongoing income. You can find the poverty requirements at www.uscis.gov under forms it is form I-864P.

Thanks muñequita y osito that helps a bunch and looks like I'm right in line with the financial requirements.

So I'm wondering if NVC will actually check with the IRS on that last year. Is this a standard protocol? in other words, are they going to verify that I filed?

Also, does this include state tax documents? or just federal?

I'm a dummy when it comes to any government form :help:
