Called Dos Today, they've sent packet four! But they told my fiance I can't book my interview until I get it. Is this true, or can I skip that step and try and book while waiting?

Thanks!

Exciting news!

When my fiance called DoS and they told us Packet 4 was sent is when we were told I was eligible to schedule an appointment with Montreal.

If I were you I'd spend another 5 minutes and call DoS again and specifically ask if you are eligible to schedule an appointment with the consulate.

US citizen since April 2016

ROC completed April 2014

AOS from K1 completed February 2012

Okay, crisis averted, *I* called DoS and confirmed I can book the interview... but the only date available is Monday and that's too soon for me to get to Montreal :( Oh well, refreshing begins.

Funny how DOS agents give conflicting advice. This is not the first time that someone told me they were told they had to wait for physical packet 4. When I was told packet 4 was sent, the woman said that I could schedule. I questioned it and she said that she had been there 10 years, she knew what she was talking about.

I hope that you get an appointment soon that works for you. Monday is way to soon for anyone not living in or around Montreal.

Montreal works differently than Vancouver. They rarely answer emails. They do not email packet 3 or 4 out it is sent in the post. It's too bad that Montreal wouldn't take lessons from Vancouver :-)

Yeah, the lady I talked to said basically the same thing when I mentioned what my fiance had been told earlier! Oh well, it's a relief to be at this stage, even if it's frustrating to be unable to book anything. Still no physical copy of P3 yet, even!

I can totally relate... we waited 3 months for packet 3 and never received it in the mail, until we called DOS. *SIGH*

DOS told us that it was mailed out to us " a while ago" so we wasted many weeks of waiting :(

Sent in packet 3 last Friday and arrived yesterday (Monday). Planning to call DOS again in a few days to see if I can book the medical and interview.

Anyone know the process for security checks for Toronto? Can I start on that without receiving packet 4?

Thanks!

Get that police check started! Find a place that does electronic finger printing and it's much faster. There's a post here with info :

So I just got off the phone with DoS, and they told me that Montreal had logged packet 3 on Monday the 9th, but that packet 4 hadn't been sent out yet. I thought they logged packet 3 and sent packet 4 out simultaneously. Did I just talk to somebody that doesn't know what they're taking about, or what?

If you dont have any prior convictions, you can just get online here http://www.torontopolice.on.ca/recordsmanagement/clearance.php and get a clearance letter. you can pick it up from a few different stations. It took about a week total.
