Hi,

If someone could answer my question, the help would be much appreciated.

I have a marriage certificate from India where my name is written first name and then last name, but my wife's name is written, last name, first name, and then middle name.

Will this cause confusion and risk to my application?

Regards,

Jay

What State is this marriage certificate from in India?

I know personally as I am Gujarati, the Gujarat marriage cert. lists both husband and wife's first and last name....in that very same order.

You might want to check if this is the way they do it in your state/local jurisdiction.

I can not give you a concrete answer. As we both know all things are done very differently in India. I would call your spouse and have her find out if this the way they do it.

If it is incorrect. Please make sure you get it done. This is the first and most important step as you will be sending this to USCIS and they will approve your file.

You also never know if you will need these documents in the future so you want them to be correct from the get go.

Good Luck.
