I was checking out the embassy information for Bogota and it said that once you know the embassy has your case, immediately send them via email or fax forms DS-2100 and DS-230 before we even recieve packet 3 in the mail (since you can just download it anyway).

After that, can we immediately start working on the medical exam stuff by just downloading and printing packet 4?? Or is there a specific paper called "the appointment letter" that we have to wait for to proceed? I'm just a little confused on that. It would be great to be able to go ahead and get all of that done if we can.

Thanks for the info! Any tips would be great! :star:

I don't know specifics about your embassy but I don't think there's an appointment letter. If you can find out the list of doctors from the embassy website you can call one of the doctors and ask for an appointment. I don't know how they handle the fees there, some embassies have you pay the fee at a bank and get the receipt, but that may be for the interview. But you should be able to find out, or even call or email the embassy your question. Good luck!

After the embassy recieves your DS-2100 & DS-230, you can schedule the lab appointment and the medical appointment by giving them your BGT-XXXXXXXX number. They might ask when your appointment is so you should look that up in the list of scheduled appointments posted on the embassy website.

My fiancee, now my wife, never received her Packet 4 letter. I can only imagine the problems that we would have had, had we waited for it.

Good luck!!!

If your fiancee does not live in Bogota, you should try to have the lab and the medical done on the same day two business days before your scheduled interview. If she lives in Bogota, she should be able to do them at any time convenient to her: but the lab has to be done first.
