I Can't believe AP is over or they made a mistake?

I called the department of state today and asked for the status of my fiance's application that was on AP.The guy behind the phone told me the most recent update for his status is they asked for his passport to be drop off to the embassy.But I do not see any update in the website. Please tell me if this happened to anyone is this true or they might made a mistake?
