Hi folks,

I am a new green card holder, and i am looking for some advice regarding ROC and unemployment. not for me for the wifey..

She is employed in a "permenant seasonal position", i know sounds wierd, but basiclly its permanent apart from the winter.

During the winter most of her work mates claim unemployment.

I have said that becasue of the I-864 and such that its probably not a good idea for her to do the same.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this? would her claiming have a negative effect on my ROC in 2 years?

Not at all. She is your sponsor but her income is no longer a requirement for ROC. Just focus on keeping all your statements, bills, etc... with both your names on them, and keep your addresses updated with USCIS (if you move) and you should be all set!

Also, make sure you file taxes (although it goes without saying).

So her income etc will have no bearing on ROC.. thats good.

We are keeping a good paper trail.. my name is only on one bill just now, we plan on changing that when we move next june having joint names on everything. My wife is a paper work hoarder anyway :-)
