I own a business plus work part-time plus receive $1600.00 a month in child support. Together this all puts me over the poverty level by quite a bit. My part-time job will most likely go full-time in a matter of a few months. I'm really really worried that I'm not going to be able to prove that I can support my fiance without being able to include my child support. Also, the I-134 form does not have extra lines for having more than one job.

We are just starting this process and could use all the help we can get.

Thanks so much. I'm trying not to panic too much

So long as it is verifiable, yes, child support counts as income. I make $32k per year, but also receive almost $8k a year in child support. I have a report I can print off of the state database website where his support payments have been logged for the past 5 years, and this goes in with my pay stubs and tax return.

If you are concerned about including it, attach a letter of explanation as to how you computed your income, as child support doesn't show up on your tax return. You can also ask your fiance to point this out at the interview, if the CO will listen.

Good luck.

Yes. Attach court order and evidence it is being paid. With one exception it counts. IF the child is 17 and the child support ends when they are 18 in 4 months...maybe not. If it will continue for some years into the future, then yes, it counts.

My son is 13 and my daughter is 9, so the support will continue for a while. I have the divorce decree that states how much my ex is supposed to pay. And he pays it every month. In fact, in lieu of sending me the money directly we have a verbal agreement that he pays my mortgage. So I don't have actual proof that he pays me monthly, except for the fact that I havent been kicked out of my house yet. I've asked him to send a letter stating the fact that in lieu of paying me directly he pays the mortgage and how much he pays a month. We will then have a notary sign it. Maybe that will help a little.

I knew this would be a difficult and long process.

Thanks for you help.
