I don't think many recent immigrants would be willing to make such a stir over covering up. Only a convert. (sorry to be offensive)

I don't find it offensive. We just know our way around the system and know what rights we can fight for. :yes:

Yep, and priorities are different. I think for a recent immigrant, the priority is not feeling like an outsider everywhere. My ancestors (Jewish, bien sur) used to cover up their hair too, but that went pretty quickly when they got to New York. Now I know Jews who happily cover up for religious reasons...with WIGS (I really don't know what that's about).
