Montreal Interview

Hi, I just received my pkt4 last week. My wife is a US citizen and we have three kids (ages 8, 4 and 2). On the first page of the packet it says "each family member planning to immigrate must appear on the appointment date, subject to the exceptions noted in the personal appearance instructions at http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_1335.html. To request a waiver of the personal appearance of a child under the age of 14, please contact http://canada.usvisa-info.com. I have been looking but can not find out any additional information about this. I would love to not have to bring the 3 kids from Vancouer to Montreal. Does anyone know any additional information about this?

Sean

Are the children Us citizens? did you apply for visas for them? I am a tad confused. IF you did file i-130's for them (cr-2) then yes they would need to attend. please let us know more information so we can answer your question in more detail.

No, the children are not US citizens and we did file I-130's for them. My wife is US citizen but has never lived in the US, which is why citizenship did not pass to the children. I was under the impression that they would have to attend until I received my packet 4 letter. On the first page it mentions that you can request a waiver of the personal appearance of a child under 14 but when I go to the webpage I can not find any information on this.

I believe that CR1/IR1 Children need to attend and that K1 children do not have to attend. I took my kids to Montreal as they had interview letters as well as myself.
