Hi VJers!

So if any of you have caught my previous posts, my Fiance never received his packet 3 from the Embassy (although they claim it was sent). After a $16 phone call to Glasgow, I was told that there's nothing pertinent in the packet that he cannot download from the Embassy Website. (Wonderful)

So I've visited the Emabssy website and taken a look at the instructions for submitting the forms and I just had a few questions.

#1- Must a medical exam be scheduled BEFORE sending the forms in to the Embassy? Or do you schedule the appointment once you have an interview date??

#2 - Must copies of the original documents (ie: birth certificate, police report) be submitted accompanying the forms? Or are those brought to the interview separately? The instructions on the website aren't 100% clear.

#3 - Does form DS-157 need to be completed if no family members are accompanying him? It's just him, no family.

Also, can anyone currently in the process with London tell me what the turn around time is currently for interview appointments??? I'm hoping before November!! The US part of this process was lightening fast, it's disheartening that we got clogged up waiting for paperwork from London!! Oh well :(

If anyone has current info or experience on these issues it would be hugely helpful!!

I'd like to know this as well. I was told London was far quicker than the US. So far our US process seems slow, this is not good news.

Hi there!

I had the same questions you do, also with london!

So first-- the medical MUST be COMPLETED before the interview... and not just before.. like a week before the interview. So if you haven't scheduled it, do so immediately... Knightsbridge has two locals.. but appointments fill up fast and there is usually a two week wait.

second-- NO, do NOT include original documents (ie birth cert, police cert etc) when you send back packet 3. (I spent 16 bucks and got the straight answer) you bring those docs, as well as the affidavite of financial support, with you for your interview...

three-- if its JUST him.. nope, no DS 157...

as for the interview scheduling.... I sent back our package three 2 weeks ago and it still hasnt been logged into their system.. so I would say maybe 4 to 6 weeks after you send your packet three.. you should get an interview.. Im taking that from what ive read in other forums...

BUT-- make sure you schedule your medical ASAP and if you dont have vaccination records, visit the docs before your medical so you dont have to pay loads of money to have knightsbridge do it...

Best of luck guys..

Hope this helps!

1. No, the medical doesn't have to be scheduled before you send off the forms. You can send off the forms whenever you would like. The medical just has to be completed at least 5 days before the interview. From our experience (as well as a few others on the boards) there is a about a 2 week wait for appointments for the medical. But it won't be hard to get an appointment before the interview. As for our situation, my fiance sent off all the forms except the checklist, made an appointment for the medical, sent the checklist once he had the appointment, received his interview date, did the medical, all in that order. You can make an appointment for the medical as long as you have your London case number (the LND number).

2. Many people are submitting copies of the documents when they submit the forms. DO NOT send the originals. The originals should go with the fiance to the interview. But submitting the copies gives them a preview of what will be coming at the interview, which can't hurt. My fiance sent along copies just to be safe.

3. I think he still has to do a DS-157 for himself.

As for turnaround time for interviews. There were a handful of us that send off paperwork at the end of July and beginning of August who have interviews scheduled for the middle-end of September. Those who sent stuff in late July have mid-Sept interviews; those who sent stuff in early Aug have late Sept interviews. But, August is a notoriously slow time in London and other European countries / embassies, so things may go a little quicker once we get into the autumn.
