I'm just wondering how nervous some of you were for your medical/interview? I don't have a straightforward situation so I'm a little on the edge of my seat! I'd love to hear how some of you were for your medical and interview!

Very!

When the girl was trying to get my heart rate at the medical, she had to stop, tell me to calm down, left and came back in 5.

And mine was straight forward, with nothing to actually "BE" nervous about.

I got one hour of sleep the day of my interview.

But I also get really bad anxiety about every and anything.

Everything went smooth, and I really didnt have a need to be nervous/anxious.

I wasn't all that nervous about the medical because I was too busy thinking about the interview :).

If you're going through Woking Medical in Vancouver, don't worry about a thing. It's a very straightforward, easy process. You'll want to make sure you're waiting outside the clinic by about 5:45 am since we got there at 5:50 and there were already 4 people waiting (one woman showed up later with her mom and cut in line, which is how I wound up with ticket #7, but oh well..they end up seeing everyone anyway). They'll take you upstairs, tell you to take a number, and ask you to sit in the waiting room. Then Laura and another woman go over the forms and the process, and will then ask groups of numbers to go across the hall for a blood test. They call 3 or 4 people at a time for this, and it takes 5 min at most. Then it's back to the waiting room for x-rays. The x-ray clinic opened at 8am the day I was there. Again, it's a relatively quick process. Then you sit and wait some more. They call you into an exam room, and in my case we waited maybe 5 min for the doctor to arrive. He said hello, talked to us briefly while doing the exam (which took all of 5 min), then told me to get dressed and meet Laura at reception. She took my height and weight and did a quick eye exam, then took my payment and told us to either return at 1:30 or, if it's later than 1:30, the results are available at the x-ray clinic next door (note: they say "next door", but it's literally about 7 ft from Woking's reception desk to the other side of the wall where the x-ray clinic doors are).

You'll do fine..Try to arrive relatively early, make sure you have your 3 passport photos, appointment letter, vaccination records and payment in CDN funds, and it'll be smooth.

One thing to note: my Fiance and I stayed at the Century Plaza hotel, which is less than half a block away from the clinic. Some will tell you to stay close to the Consulate, but if you have your medical exam same day as your interview and have to be there early, it's much more convenient to stay near the clinic since it's the first stop and a quick walk, which you'll appreciate when you wake up at 5am.

We are staying at the days inn. I asked for the day after the medical because I am K1/K2 and toting my 6yr old around in a mad panic does not have a happy ending no matter what I bribe her with lol!

I'm sure at the end of the day when all is said and done they will laugh at me and tell me my case was pretty straightforward as well as I'm sure there are WAY more complicated situations in the line up for a K1... but my brain is never in the off position and all my little things pile up and now I'm stuck in 'what if' mode!

I'm also sure you will make fun of me when I'm back here on POE day fretting about the *wonderful* people at the edmonton airport who made my last crossing to the states so *joyous*. I swear I'm on their hitlist. lol.

Pretty much just make sure you have all your papers and you're good.

I broke mine up into file folders with a list of what was in each so that I could find them fast, and it helped.

- original documents

- filed paper work

- copies

- stuff for the medical

I was really nervous about my medical because I have medical issues. It went great tho. No problems and the only hard parts were the blood test (i hate needles) and the long waiting. The doctor told me that they only care about things that people could catch. Irs a little creepy when the woman nurse checks under your gown lol but not horrilbe.

For the interview I wasnt really nervous. I figured we made it this far without any problems, we probably wouldnt have any at the interview either. Plus we have a real relationship and have done everything the legal way. The interview was very easy and we were only asked four questions. People were really nice. the hardest part once again was the waiting. We waited almost 2 and a half hours after we handed in all our papers and did the finger prints, for the interview. the interview was less then five mins. bring some change with you. there are vending machines but they only take coins. we left all our change in the hotel room and were dieing of thirst by the time we left.

Try not to worry too much. You will laugh at yourself once everything is done for worrying over something that was so easy

Life is like a roller coaster. Hold on tight and enjoy the ride!

I was really nervous (looking back I don't know why). Was on my laptop from the hotel until about 2 or 3 in the morning, couldnt sleep, talked to my honey long distance as he tried to calm me down. Wandered out of the hotel to Timmies at like 6:15 so I could be first in line (and wouldn't you know it...I was!) I know I was nervous at the medical too cuz my heart rate was a little high, but the night before I kept like freaking out. The best part of all was going to the interview though, the guy said "ok well you're pretty much a shoe in but I need to ask a few questions for procedure". It was like as soon as he said that, a big breath came out of me and I calmed way down and just kept talking about my honey and smiling.

Actually I watched the vending machines eat the change of 4 people and not spit anything out, so skip the change.

For my medical, I was scared sh*tless, mainly because I had a few self inflicted scars. :(

For my interview, I almost threw up.

That was my nervousness in a nutshell.

It was completely opposite for me! I was really nervous going to the consulate, and getting in, but after I gave all my paperwork and sat down waiting for the interview I was totally calm.

I was pretty nervous for the medical, because I hate, hate, hate needles and had never had blood taken before, so I was worried that I would react strange. And of course, this is the last thing they did, so I had nervous anticipation the whole time.

You'll be nervous and that's completely normal! After you'll look back and wonder why... I think that's completely normal too
