Wow, I'm not opening any of those links!

Presumably the guys do not want their 'bar girls' to continue their trade (outside of with their husband) once they are married?

It's pretty notorious.

Before I moved back I saw a reality tv program about a group of students who volunteered to work menial food production jobs in Thailand. Backbreaking work for pennies a day. What they found was that a lot of the women who end up working in sex clubs are originally factory and plantation workers from deprived rural areas who end up turning to prostitution because they don't earn enough money to support their families.

What was interesting is that the students had a verbal confrontation with an American sex tourist in Bangkok and the guy would not accept that the women he was trying to procure weren't there for any other reason than that they liked it. Tells you a lot about the mentality of some people.

Yes, I am beginning to see what you mean...

I don't know about SE Asian "bar girls" but a lot of formerly eastern bloc women are brought into this country by spouses who quickly put them to work in respectable sounding professions like cosmetologist and hairdresser but they actually do something else.

I have a question. Does strip poker = paying for sex?

No - unless they cheat ;)

Hold on, are you saying that far from being a spouse, these girls are a source of income to the guys? How does this work outside of virtual slavery?

So would a man consider himself paying for sex if he bought the woman a car? What if they're both enjoying having lots of good sex (nothing else) and he just wants to buy her a car? Is that prostitution?

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

those who feel there is nothing wrong with it don't feel they have to rationalise it or justify it.

as long as the provider (they like this term) is of legal age (like in the porn industry) and as long as the industry is legal, there is nothing to rationalise or justify. oh, and as long as the client isn't in a relationship, it is okay to me.

Noone is holding a gun to your head to participate in the thread. Yet you choose to and you choose to tell me (in the third person) that you don't need to rationalism or justify anything.

You are right that you don't "have" to, but it does lead to some interesting speculation.

Certainly one is drawn to the conclusion that men who use prostitutes see the women who do that sort of work as different to the type of women they want in their families. I'll throw another one out there, how many men who think paying for sex is fine and dandy would marry a prostitute? If not, why not?

i wouldn't marry one. depending on the country, many providers are jaded in one way or another.

i do know a few guys who have married providers and i know a boat load of guys that have tried to "rescue" a provider. many clients feel sorry for providers and want to take them in, but a lot of providers are independent souls so they eventually reject the client in favor of running their own lives.

some guys, although they attempt a relationship with a provider, because of their past profession, they can't fully trust so it usually isn't a win/win in the end.

What does it matter if the client is in a relationship or not? I don't get the distinction - unless they are lying to their partner of course, lying isn't a great plan in a relationship.

honestly, i don't know what you want me to say. i have no idea.

i said i did it frequently once upon a time and i don't feel it was wrong so how am I to justify or rationalize when i don't feel i did anything wrong?

that is what i meant, lying to their partner is wrong.
