Congrats, Herk and Bud!

Jordi, just a thought about the x-rays. Right; you don't need them at the embassy. But it'd be really nice to have something to compare a new x-ray against if Five ever has any heart or respiratory issues here in the US. A doc would be able to see what has changed and how quickly that change has occurred and go forward with treatment from there. For us, Husby's getting a copy of his medical history from the local hospital he's been seen at since he was little. It may not seem like a big deal, but medical records can be a very useful thing to have if things go bad. Just a thought.

Matt, Laddawan, good luck!

Thanks for the replies and thoughtful wishes from everyone...

Tom - I hope things speed up now that you have some back up. The whole process is frustrating (and time consuming) enough without the excess aggravation. Despite working for the government the idea of any gov intervention in peoples private lives gives me thought flashes of a specific finger on each hand waving high in the air. The entire thing is just horribly invasive but unfortunately those of us who are trying to do things the legitimate way have to deal with it. It seems persistence is key, which sounds like you are not short of at all. Best of luck and I look forward to reading that things worked out. Please keep us posted.

Thanks, Herk. I too work for State govt here in NC and I know what you mean. But......the thing that aggravates me the most is they grill Teaw but if they have a concern or question why not just ask me to explain? Back in March when she had the initial interview, if they had just asked me to explain why the divorce was so close to filing the K-1 for Teaw, I would have gladly explained it to them and in fact said in an email right after the interview if they had any questions or concerns to let me know and I would be happy to respond. I know they have called other people here in the states to clarify things so it just pisses me off that they have taken so long when it could have been such an easy thing to take care of. Oh, well, they have one more week to answer the Congressman and for some reason I think they will purposely take the whole 14 days they have just to be jerks.

I think because she is the visa applicant and--from their perspective--it is she who has to convince them that she should receive a visa.

I know they have called other people here in the states to clarify things

Really? I've never heard of that happening.

Frankly I am SHOCKED that they have held onto her passport for so long. That is actually what I find most ridiculous about your situation. What if she wanted to travel elsewhere?

If they planned to take this long, they should have given it back to her. The only think I can think of is that they DID NOT PLAN to keep it this long, but in their search for information after the second interview they uncovered something else that they did not expect to ind.

Well, after the initial interview they called her to come get her passport back and then when they did the second interview in June they have kept it. It's almost a month now since the second interview.

K-1 interview on a Friday. Is that because of the closure due to the red shirts. I thought K-1s were only Monday and Wednesday mornings?

Anyway, I hope all went well.

The embassy tried to call Teaw twice today, Friday, while she was working. She has told them before when her break times are but I guess they didn't think of that. So we don't know what they were calling for...but hope it was to tell her to come pick up her visa. Now we have to wait until Monday!! Bad timing for them as I had to fly out to Calif as my dad is in the hosp. and my mom wanted me here. But at least if she gets the visa that will be one good thing next week. Keeping my fingers crossed..

Oh, the caseworker has not emailed me so they apparently have not replied to the Congressman yet either.

Tom,

I think it is good news that the Embassy tried to call her today. We are still wishing you good luck. Ying and I got married yesterday. We will have the wedding with my family next year and a ceremony in Thailand. I just found out that I have to go to the desert for a year (Kuwait or Iraq) so we are a little bummed but she is taking it good. She will stay with my Mom while I am gone.

OK Tom, I hope this is it. I think they have exhausted all avenues of delay and you have outlasted them. I hope your father gets well soon so maybe he can share in some good news.

Congratulations on your marriage. Of course shipping out for a year isn't the best way to start a marriage. Well, at least Ying can spend some quality time with your mother and learn how to shop American style. Good luck.
