Hola amigos,

We are almost finished with NVC (hopefully) and want to know once the case is complete and forwarded to the embassy - can we schedule the interview with Consul or must we wait for NVC to do it..??? I feel I could get a faster interview date if I were to do it and not NVC..

Also, what time of the month does NVC schedule interview appointments with Bogota? I have read 2nd week of the month but have seen other people say got their interview at other times.... Thanks to all...

Hello.

The Embassy in Bogota will schedule your appointment once you send the DS-230 and DS-2100 forms back to them and I recommend that you send it via fax or e-mail. They will process it within 2 days and you can e-mail them with your case number, name and birth-date for you and your Fiancee and they will tell you your date. You can also call the Immigrant Visa Unit at 011-57-1-315-1566 on Wednesdays between 2 and 4pm and ask them for your appointment date.

Also the NVC does not schedule the interview, they just forward your package to the Embassy. The embassy will then mail you packet 3 with instructions on the documents needed for the interview. You can also download this from their site at http://bogota.usembassy.gov/appt-package.html.

Packet 3 http://bogota.usembassy.gov/root/pdfs/consular/2010/kinstructionsfeb2010.pdf

Again once they receive your DS-230 and DS-2100 they will schedule your interview.

As for the 2nd week of the month.... This is the time when they post the schedule of interviews on the web site. As stated before you can e-mail them or call them to get your date once they have processed your DS-230 and DS-2100 forms.

Unfortunately have to take the date you are given and cant make any special requests.

We did this last week and our interview is set for 6/9/2010

I hope this helps

Is this correct information for the CR1 Visa as well??? Because I was told that NVC calls the embassy to schedule the appointment when the case is complete.. Maybe I am wrong.. dunno.

No, it's only correct for K visas. The NVC schedules interviews with the embassies for CR visas. I replied to this question in the Colombianos con visa K1 thread.
