INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE

Hi all,

Thank you all for your support and posts. I had my interview last week tuesday but have been busy to write my experience. My appointment was for 2.45pm arrived at 2.00pm with my wife because my application is based on marriage to a USC.

In the hall were only two persons. One person was waiting for oath and one was waiting for an interview. So we waited as those two were taken care of. It remained me and my wife in the hall. As the time was going we were wondering why they haven't called me but I thought the IO may be needed some more time to study my file. Then at 4.30 (that was after waiting for 2.5 hours) I saw workers leaving the building with their bags and going home for the day. My wife stopped one of them and complained and the man asked for my appointment letter and took it inside to the chief. He came back after 10 minutes and apologized and said that the IO who was supposed to take care of my case did come to work and they will give to another IO to take care of.

10 minutes later the IO called me in for the interview but didn't allow my wife in. Very nice and friendly guy but very professional. I took the oath. He went through my form, ask me the civic questions and stopped at no.6. He asked me whether I ever separated from my wife and I said no. I didn't submit my 2009 tax return when I applied in Feb. because it wasn't ready. I gave him the transcript and he looked at the p.o. box address but I explained to him that my wife had the p.o.box address before I arrived in this country and that she uses it for some correspondences including IRS. He didn't say anything. He didn't ask for certified copies of divorce of previous marriages but I gave them to him. The ones I sent with the application were not certified.

He gave me stuffs to sign including my pictures and said congratulations you passed and I recommend you for approval. He handed me the sheet of paper marked passed and at the bottom recommended for approval.

But I have not yet reached my 3 years anniversary which should be on the May 7th and I called the attention of the IO to this matter but he didn't seem to bother as he was fast and everything was within 15 minutes. I am kind of confused because I have read in this forum that applicants who have not reached their anniversary receives "decision can not be made". Please can someone comment on this.

First off - congratulations on passing the exam.

The IO approved you but you are not yet a citizen - when you take the Oath, you are officially a USC and since you are going to receive an oath letter, you will definitely receive it after May 7th.

Congratulations once again!!!
