In fairness, BP has been at the centre of the two worst oil disasters of the last 5 years. First they've had an entire refinery blow sky high, and now an oil rig.

From an American point of view, would you trust them to run an operation with a safety record like that?

The interesting thing about this rig is that it was not run by BP, it was run by Transocean; who are based out of Texas. Therefore, this is a #### up by them and dodgyburton.

Anyone seen that Black Gold show on True TV? This 'get-er-done, I've done this before so I know what I am doing' leads to a lot of disasters. E.G. Chernobyl.

European Law doesn't apply in the USA.

Not to mention that the different divisions in BP are effectively different companies.

Operated on behalf of BP. The failure on their point is in the inspection process (BP are responsible for auditing the 3rd parties that do work on their behalf).
